Freda the Family Friends hippo met dozens of local children and families who were out doing their Christmas shopping in Maidenhead on Saturday as we raised awareness of our charity.

Many shoppers at the Nicholsons Centre stopped to see us and made donations to our collection to help us run our services across the borough.

Lots of children had a photo and a hug with Freda, who even got to meet Father Christmas and the elves.

James Nadal, fundraiser, said: “Freda and our team of collectors had an amazing time today raising money and awareness. Shoppers were incredibly generous, and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came to see us, donated, and listened to hear more about our great work locally. A big thanks also to Judi Hugill at the Nicholsons Centre and her team for inviting us and making the arrangements to make this day possible. Huge thanks also go to our volunteers Hazel Whittingham, Sandy O’Hara, Jim Alexander, and Richard Germain, who kindly gave up their time to help on the day.”

He added: “Freda absolutely loved meeting all of the children and families and having pictures taken with them. If you had a picture taken with Freda that you’d like to share, please tweet us via @FamilyFriendsWM with hashtag #Freda.
